This book brings together 18 scientific essays published by Thorstein B. Veblen between 1892 and 1909. These essays were first selected, in 1919, by Leon Ardzrooni, Wesley C. Mitchell and Walter W. Stewart, and edited for the first time by B.W. Huebsch. All selected scientific essays were originally published in renowned journals of economics, sociology and politics. In these essays, Thorstein B. Veblen approaches from the role of science in modern civilization to the initial experimentation of trusts in economics, passing through marginal utility, the nature of capital, the theory of socialism, the economy of Karl Marx and the mutation and racial theory.
